After two years running after sponsorships to dispute the trials on the south and southeast of Brazil, the northeast finally hosted a trial for the World Pro of Jiu-Jitsu. Natal hosted Saturday (6) the first of three trials which will be made in Brazil for World Pro of Jiu-Jitsu of 2011, which will happen in Abu Dhabi. The great highlight of the competition was the athlete of Checkmat in Paraíba, Antônio Carlos Coelho, who won the weight and absolute disputes and, besides guaranteeing a vacancy in Abu Dhabi, will all expenses paid, earned a good slice of the five thousand dollars distributed among the absolute champions. On the female dispute, Alliance’s pair, Gabrielle Garcia and Luanna Alzuguir, guaranteed a vacancy and will defend their respective title on the Arab Emirates in 2011.

Who also was a highlight was Kimura/Nova União’s athlete, Caio Alencar, who submitted four of his opponents and earned the vacancy as he conquest the +92kg and got the third position on the absolute. “I’m pretty happy with this conquest and for having represented my team in great style, because last year I’ve been injured and I couldn’t participate on the trials, but thanks God I’m 100% now so I can make a good preparation for an event of that level. It was great to join this event especially on my home country, I think that northeast, for its tradition on Jiu-Jitsu, deserved an event like this. I did four fights on my weight division and thanks God everything has been working out. On the first I submitted the guy with a triangle and on the second one with a hand triangle. On the semifinals the win came with an armbar and, since the final dispute for the vacancy, which was the hardest one, came against a friend and teammate, Vitor Hugo, and the win came with a choke from the back”, said Caio, who explained why he stayed out of the absolute’s finals.

“On the absolute, where the award was of five thousand dollars, I’ve won the two first fights and since most semifinalists were from the northeast we decided to split the money on the odd or even joke and I wasn’t as lucky and got the third place. I have to train more this game (laughs). I think that the physical preparation I’ve been going with my coach Adriano Coringa, along with the work I do on the gym proves why we stepped up in most podiums of the competition”.
