DESERT FORCE CHAMPIONSHIP AND MIDDLE EAST FIGHTING LEAGUE INVADES ARAB MARKET
Middle East – Jordan’s first MMA event and one of its first in the Middle East has been re-scheduled to November. The event not only re-scheduled its date, but also earned a new name:
Desert Force Championship (DFC).
“I think that Capital Challenge has very strong ties with the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu events we were organizing. We want to keep its identity for future Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu events”, explains Black Belt and event organizer Zaid Mirza.
“Desert Force is a name we came up with for this MMA event, inspired by the vast majority of the Middle East and the Arab Peninsula Landscape. The desert like its people are known for the tough conditions it provides. People that grow up in the Desert are just like MMA fighters. They are aware of the difficulties and sacrifices they suffer in their day-to-day lives. We want to show the world the power of the people in this region”, informs the Brazilian raised Black Belt.
The first edition of DFC scheduled for November 17th has 5 international super fights, and 5 under card fights with fighters from Jordan, Brazil, United Arab Emirates, USA, Holland, Australia, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, Iraq, Egypt, Syria, Lebanon and Palestine.
Mirza also launched the one and only Middle East Fighting League (MEFL).
“This event is one of its kind. Its concept is to create regional talents that will one day fight in bigger events such as the UFC, Dream, Strikeforce and DFC. Our goal is to build and promote local talents from all over the Arab world in a safe and sanctioned environment. Athletes will be competing for the prestigious title belt and hefty cash prizes.
Our goal is to reach one event a month within 2-3 years. Its first show will take place in Cairo, Egypt on January 2011. The MEFL cage will spin all Arab and Middle East countries raising awareness of MMA in the region”, reveals Mirza.
The event is sponsored by multinational and large regional corporations and covered by Live TV satellite broadcasting.
