There was a time when female Jiu-Jitsu was not on the spotlights and fans did not care about it too much. The girls had to work really hard to get sponsored, even when they had a large collection of medals and titles. But it all started to change when Kyra Gracie, the only black belt of the family, stepped on a competition mat for the first time. Many years later, the female Jiu-Jitsu has grown in an impressive scale, and TATAME decided, for the first time in almost 16 years of history, to stamp a woman on its cover.

On the exclusive article, the Gracie showed us her routine on and off the mats… And it’s a long list! Besides the hard trainings on the gym, Kyra also leads a social project in Rio de Janeiro, takes care of her beauty and play sports, like kite surfing, snowboard and skating, besides illustrating Jiu-Jitsu on headlines of any kinds of media. On TATAME Magazine #176, you also check a very exclusive photo shooting with the fighter live you have never seen before.

JACARÉ MAKES HISTORY

On tennis, the titles of all great competitions give the athletes the Grand Slam, something which names like Andre Agassi, Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer achieved. On the fights, something similar was conquest by the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt Ronaldo Jacaré. After becoming absolute and weight champion of Jiu-Jitsu and winning ADCC on his division and on the super fight, the Brazilian conquest his first MMA belt on Strikeforce, and talked about his entire journey on an unmissable article. “I want to get more titles, it’s all just starting for me”, guarantees Ronaldo, who also taught two of his favorite positions on the Open Training.

Also talking about MMA, we revere the success of Charles do Bronx’s. From an underdog to a star in a month, the young fighter of Sao Paulo submitted two Americans on UFC, and already blunts as one of the great promises of the division, but he makes it clear that he does not intend to leave the mats’ competitions. When it comes to UFC, we analyzed the most expected fight of 2011, between Anderson Silva and Vitor Belfort, for the middleweight belt. Talking about Anderson, the welterweight Luis Beição, world champion of Shooto, confesses to have the UFC champion as an inspiration, since he once was the holder of his belt, to shine on international MMA.

POLICEMAN INSIDE THE OCTAGON

Off with the gun and the livery, on with shorts and gloves. With a fight scheduled for the end of the month on UFC, against Diego Sanchez, the cop-fighter Paulo Thiago hosted TATAME on BOPE (Special Operations Squad) of Brasília-DC and, like a real “skull”, explained the value of the battalion for his success on the most famous octagon of MMA’s world. On the article, his Coronels and Majors complimented the fighter, who shows a good image of BOPE on MMA.

Losing weight, changing divisions, training hard six times a week… The routine of MMA fighters is tough, but… Are they feeding themselves correctly? With good and bad examples, like Alexandre Pulga and Edson Conterrâneo, we talked with experts to analyze the diet of the athletes and they pointed out the advantages and disadvantages of each kind of food and supplementation, besides analyzing the risks of the dehydration and rehydratation.

Crises on the Japanese MMA, the story of Edson Junior, the newcomer of UFC, the success of the joining of Jiu-Jitsu on the Intercollegiate Games in Rio de Janeiro, the importance of the right choice of floor for practicing martial arts… These are just some of the attractions we prepared for you on this month’s edition of TATAME.
